Athearn GATX 2600cf AirSlide 'early' covered hopper kit

Ahtearn continues to press the envelope on some of their models. These photos of this Air Slide kit show the number of parts used to detail this car. The first run of these lits were sold out before they hit the stores. Keep hearing that undecorated kits don't sell. Well this one did. And apparently there was a lot of communication on these kits because Athearn announced a SECOND RUN of these kits in Oct 09 with kits, due in May 2010. As with ANY Ahtearn undec kit, make sure you preorder from a reputable dealer. Chances are if you miss out, they may never be run again ie: ACF2970 - 2983 cf - 65' gon. If ever ie: FMC 4700 - MAXI 1......
