Scratch Built Southern Pacific Double Stack Well car

This set of SP double stack cars was scratch built following an article by Cyril Durrenberger in the October 1983 issue of Model Railroader. The five unit set of cars is complete with the exception of the air hose between the units. It has Kadee #5 couplers and Kadee metal wheels. The set has a little track time on it, but not much, so it will operate on a layout. Each of the angled bulkheads has a custom made to fit weight made out of low temp lead once available from Walthers. The decals were some I came across several years back but I do not remember who it was that had them made. That I know of, only three sets of these have actually been built. The first set was the one Mr. Durrenberger built. There is a set built by Clyde King. And this set that I built somewhere around 1985. There are nine identical (WKW?)containers that will be include with the cars. I will part with these for $600.00 and that price includes USPS Priority shipping and insurance. Here are a few quick photos of the cars. (click photos below for larger photos). Hopefully they show enough detail of the units so you know what you are getting. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
