Yes, this model did start out life as an Atlas '73 Ford F100. But is has been modified to represent a '78 Ford F100
short bed to show another option for using our #13887 XLT detail kit (or our
13886 73-75 kit) This kit is the same as our
13881 detail kit with the exception of the bed rail lengths. The kit includes "top mount" mirrors, windshield
wipers, box rails, sliding rear window frame, window rain guards, metal splash guards (not used here) and "Mag Style"
wheel covers (not used here).
As far as this model, to create the 6 3/4 ft bed, .172" was removed from the front of the box, just inside the front
wall. The chassis was shortend the same amount. The front grille was sliced off the front of a LifeLike Ford model,
cleaned up in inserted into the opening of the Atlas model. The wheels and tires are from Busch. The antenna is from
a set of our truck mirrors. While it is hard to see, in the last photo, the cast on spare tire was removed and a
piece of scrap brass fret was used to mount a new spare tire under the box. Straight exhaust pipes are also installed
but hard to see. Should probably rust them up a little.
