ACF

Two walkway patterns are available for the Athearn 55 ft. center flow car.

Morton round pattern

Apex slotted pattern

There are several special features in these walkway kits.

There are holes in the appropriate corners for grab irons.

The frames are nothing more than strips of brass etched to size with score lines on them. At these score lines, the modeler is required to bend these strips, forming the risers to hold the walkways.

Spacing between risers can be set by the modeler to match a chosen prototype, or use the given locations on a supplied paper drill template.

There are two different packaging configurations for the walkways.

The Morton round pattern walkways come with all risers the same width.

The Apex slotted pattern walkways come with two different width risers for the alternating configuration.

Small platforms over the couplers are another feature included in these kits.
They too have frames to hold them in place.

Three different one piece walkways for the Details Assoicates 2 bay ACF 2970cf covered hopper are ready to drop on, after you add the supplied brass risers.

Trainman 3560

For the Atlas Trainman ACF 3560 covered hopper, I finally have an Apex pattern walkway available. The kit includes a one piece walkway, brass walkway supports (two widths), coupler platforms, drill template and instructions.

Atlas and InterMountain both make models of the ACF 4650cf covered hoppers. And they both come with metal Apex pattern walkways. Just incase someone needs a Morton pattern walkway, we have one that will fit either manufacturers model. Kit includes walkway, brass supports, coupler platforms and a drill template.

Atlas also makes a ACF Center Flow PressureAide covered hopper model. The model comes with a Apex pattern metal walkway. But many of the prototypes have a Gypsum diamond pattern walkway on them. We have a replacement walkway kit available for this model with the Gypsum pattern. Replacement brass walkway supports and matching coupler crossover platforms are also supplied in the kit. Although this car doesn't match the model, we do have series of detail photos of a PressureAide car posted here. Maybe they will come in handy for your detailing project.

Pullman Standard

Available for MDC's PS2 2 Bay hopper and ConCors (or E&B Valley) PS2 3 Bay hopper are Apex pattern walkways. To give the modeler more freedom for other projects, side platforms are NOT attached to the main walkway. The MDC 2 Bay also has a U.S. Gypsum expanded metal walkway available like those used by the UP.

There is also a one piece walkway available that will fit on the Atlas (now Trainman) PS2 2 bay covered hopper model. With the side latteral platfroms attached to the main running board, minimum effort is required to upgrade your model.

3 Bay

The Athearn 54 ft PS, Walthers PS2CD and Proto2000s 4427 covered hopper walkways include brass risers and coupler/brake platforms. Notice that kits 087 and 088 fit either Walthers or Proto 2000s Car. If you are going to be adding more than one or two of our walkway kits to the 4427 cars, one of the stainless drill templates will greatly aid you in this.

Two InterMountain PS 4750 Cu. Ft. covered hopper walkway kits are available in the Morton pattern.

#083 is an "original" type kit with a walkway like that of the one in the InterMountain kit.

#082 is a one piece walkway that represents the walkway applied by Trinity Ind.
Kit 082 also contains new bolster side plates allowing the larger bolsters sometimes used on this prototype.

Two other kits for this car are based on Santa Fe Prototypes.

Brass walkway supports and stainless steel coupler platforms are also part of kits.

Thrall 4750 Car

Standard Cars Plastic Pellet Car

The plastic pellet car produced by Wm. K. Walthers is an easy car to replace the walkway. A quick pop off of the plastic walkway, smooth the walkway supports and glue the new walkway in place. The included coupler platforms mount in the same holes as the plastic platforms, so again a quick interchange.
